Escape to Freedom - Whimsical Mixed Media Angel - by Kylie Pepyat-Fowler
This is another Mixed Media Angel. Still not sure if I'm finished this yet. I was thinking of adding some text on to the brick wall. What do you think?
Thank you Leila. She is sort of 'in jail'. This painting is about being restrained/ lack of freedom/ wanting to spread her wings and FLY. Does this make sense?
I think this is lovely. I agree with Leila, wording could distract from the angel. I guess it is a personal preference, but I never end up actually buying art that has text added on to it... unless it is a title at the bottom or a map or something that naturally has words on it. Then again, I am not a painter :)
I wish you all the success in the world following your bliss, so you can give up your day job. I know what it feels like to not like your full time job.
Do the thing that sets your heart alight, the thing that puts a bounce in your step, the thing that makes people wonder what you're smiling about. Remember, there is no such thing as failure, it's called giving up.
Thank you for your input Leila. Big hugs, Kyles =D
Hi there Jenxo, Sorry I haven't emailed you back. I will, I promise. Thank you for commenting. It makes me smile when I receive comments. *smiles widely*
Hi Nat, Thank you very much. The brick wall is drawn/painted. There is paint underneath, but most of the top layer is drawn. I didn't plan this, it just turned out looking like it does.
That is so beautiful!! I do like the idea of text on the bricks.....the opinions seem to be split! LOL I guess you'll just have to decide! Thanks for visiting my blog and the comment on the copper and brass bracelets.
I'm so with you a) on the angel thing and b) the 'do I add text?' thing! I thought of it as finished before I read what you wrote so I would say (quite annoyingly) that it has to come from your gut whether you feel more needs adding. It is a strong image without the text though. Look forward to seeing what you decide!
Hey there Sunshine, (I never asked if you mind if I call you that) Opinions do seem to be spilt. It means I have to make the decision after all. Your copper and brass bracelets look great. So for anyone that is ready this comment......Go check out Sunny's blog and see what she's made. =)
Linda, Jules & Tara, Thank you for your input and encouraging words. I'm not sure what I will do. Usually if I'm stuck, I put my work up somewhere out the way, in a place I can see it all the time; and wait until inspiration takes hold and I feel the need to revisit the work. I'm still trying to work on all my uncompleted projects around the art room.
I'm glad you can't stop painting angels! She's wonderful - this one really made me stop and think... I always look forward to seeing your latest creation. As far as adding more text, I like whatever you're moved to do!
So pretty, gorgeous angel. I think I will leave it to your wonderful creative vision to decide if it is finished or not! Try putting it to one side for a week or two and don't look at it and see what you think then! Kim
Hey there creative Jess, I'm glad you like seeing my art works, as I look forward to seeing your artworks also. Speaking of which..........I will pop on over after this comment to see your progress on Tam's workshop. Thank you very much Jess.
Thank you very much. I think I may take your advice and do just that. In the meantime I've got many other bits and pieces to finish off, when I can find the time. Thanks for commenting.
This is a very effective painting! I think she is fine just the way she is...I see the word "breathe" on her wing, and I think that speaks volumes. Nicely done! Theresa
Wow, Kylie, this one pulls at the heart strings. I think I *would* add some wording on the brick wall. Lovely work.
ReplyDeleteCia
Thank you Cia. It needs it doesn't it? I may add some wording today, time permitting.
ReplyDeleteKyles =D
Wording on the wall may take away from your angel. (Is she in jail?). I really like this the way it is.
ReplyDeleteThank you Leila.

Hi Kyles - it does make sense and reflects how I currently feel towards my job. Probably why I love your angel so much, I identify with it. :-)
ReplyDeletei think its beautiful , quite different to other art....i can see small text peeking thruough the bricks....
ReplyDeleteHi Kyles, this is a powerful image, so emotive. Beautiful! I think without text it speaks quite loudly.xx
ReplyDeleteAngel is adorable! I love the brick wall. Did you paint it or is it a collage?
ReplyDeleteThank you Jenna, thank you for your comments. I really appreciate it.

ReplyDeleteHi Kyles, this is a very clever painting! I think words on the bricks, not too many though. Tough decision for you.
