I recently framed this portrait of Mary and entered it into a local competition. It, along with my 'Divine Mercy' image of Jesus, is in the shop window of a local christian shop called 'Jacob's Well. The competition is apart of an Art festival that is run every year where I live and sees artists displaying their work in shop windows around town.
This is my first ever competition that I've entered my work into, so my fingers are crossed. Wish me luck,
Kyles =D
P.S. Prints of both artworks are available in my Etsy shop

ReplyDeleteGood luck....very pretty
ReplyDeleteHi Geri, Ang & Art thank you all very much. =D
ReplyDeleteThey are both incredible. I especially LOVE the eyes of Mary. Great realism. Good luck and let us know how it comes out!!
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are exceptional!!
ReplyDeleteThese are both so so beautiful! Best of luck with the competition and for plucking up the courage to do it. You have such a diverse talent in your art.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you! These are so special Kyles! Beautiful! Keep us posted...
ReplyDeleteThey're both fantastic, but I especially love Mary! Good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Sunny, I prefer Mary also. Mary was a portrait I chose to do, as apposed to Jesus, whom I did for my in-laws. They wanted me to draw my version of 'The Divine Mercy' image for a religious publishing company they are involved with. It was a love job (as I would do anything for my in-laws). My image now appears on a leaflet that gets sent around the world, although I do not get any credit for it. So in terms of the biggest thing that has happened to me regarding my artwork, I guess that would be it. I probably should post about it. Hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteI am fascinated with eyes and LOVE to draw/paint them, more than anything else.

Wow, Thank you Linda. That is a HUGE compliment indeed. Thank you very, very much. =D
ReplyDeleteHey Linda,
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've really put my work out to show. I'm trying to get myself out there as much as I can this year. My youngest child goes to school next year and I would really like to create (in any shape or form) for a living. I'm trying to get things going, so that I'm not *encouraged* to go back to "real" work next year.
It's not easy though. I have to continually tell myself, "you can do it", "don't give up".
Thank you Jess, I will keep you posted. Your mermaid turned out great. I didn't realize Tam's class finished. =D
ReplyDeleteHey there Tara,
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. Mary is my favorite also. I was going to put a price on it, but have yet to decide on a price. My teacher thinks I should put $750 on it. I haven't got the courage to put that much on it. I will have to think about it more. =D
Much good luck to you! The image of Mary is quite lovely. :) Theresa
ReplyDeleteI did not forget your request. I have the photo of the our Blessed Mother ready to send but have no email address to forward to. You can send it to me at abbey_rd99@yahoo.com. This is an email box that I use when I don't know the person, otherwise.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hearing from you. I have, actually, two photographs to send.
Blessings,
Abbey ♥
Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteI think your monochromatic Mary is marvelous!

Good Luck! I really like the blue madonna, very pretty!
ReplyDeleteHi Flor, Thank you very much for your lovely comments.

You captured the innocence and piety of the Virgin Mary perfectly. The beautiful color scheme for me made quiet but very powerful.
