I've entered a competition - Mary - Mixed Media Portrait

Mary, a photo by Blissful Pumpkin on Flickr.

I recently framed this portrait of Mary and entered it into a local competition. It, along with my 'Divine Mercy' image of Jesus, is in the shop window of a local christian shop called 'Jacob's Well. The competition is apart of an Art festival that is run every year where I live and sees artists displaying their work in shop windows around town.
This is my first ever competition that I've entered my work into, so my fingers are crossed. Wish me luck,

Kyles =D
P.S. Prints of both artworks are available in my Etsy shop

  8. Thank you Sunny, I prefer Mary also. Mary was a portrait I chose to do, as apposed to Jesus, whom I did for my in-laws. They wanted me to draw my version of 'The Divine Mercy' image for a religious publishing company they are involved with. It was a love job (as I would do anything for my in-laws). My image now appears on a leaflet that gets sent around the world, although I do not get any credit for it. So in terms of the biggest thing that has happened to me regarding my artwork, I guess that would be it. I probably should post about it. Hmmmm.

    I am fascinated with eyes and LOVE to draw/paint them, more than anything else.

  10. Hey Linda,
    This is the first time I've really put my work out to show. I'm trying to get myself out there as much as I can this year. My youngest child goes to school next year and I would really like to create (in any shape or form) for a living. I'm trying to get things going, so that I'm not *encouraged* to go back to "real" work next year.
    It's not easy though. I have to continually tell myself, "you can do it", "don't give up".

  12. Hey there Tara,
    Thank you very much. Mary is my favorite also. I was going to put a price on it, but have yet to decide on a price. My teacher thinks I should put $750 on it. I haven't got the courage to put that much on it. I will have to think about it more. =D

  14. I did not forget your request. I have the photo of the our Blessed Mother ready to send but have no email address to forward to. You can send it to me at abbey_rd99@yahoo.com. This is an email box that I use when I don't know the person, otherwise.

    Looking forward to hearing from you. I have, actually, two photographs to send.

    Blessings,
    Abbey ♥

  20. You captured the innocence and piety of the Virgin Mary perfectly. The beautiful color scheme for me made quiet but very powerful.
